When in Spain, the following clothing items scream ‘foreigner,’ if not just ‘American’: jeans, sneakers/tennis shoes, t-shirts, t-shirts with a logo or writing, backpacks.
Spanish men wear sandals or dress shoes without socks. They wear dress shirts and linen pants with a belt. The older men wear four pocket shirts and pastel colors.
Spanish women wear sandals or dress shoes, skirts, button up blouses, and carry a tiny purse. The older women wear single piece dresses.
Do not take a lot of clothing with you to Spain. You will feel more comfortable and more properly dressed if you buy some outfits from Spain.
Sizes will be different, so do not be surprised if you go from a medium to an extra large.
